Denver Mayoral Candidate Leslie Herod Shines In First Fair Elections Fund Debate

Tonight, Leslie Herod joined 15 other Denver Mayoral candidates for the first official Fair Elections Fund debate. Leslie demonstrated what sets her apart from the group: she has a record of progressive achievements and has successfully put results over politics.

During the debate, Leslie pointed to her track record, including:

  • Creating Caring for Denver which has funded successful programs for people facing mental health and addiction challenges---86% of people that have been in these programs have stayed out of jail and are on the path of recovery.
  • Founding the Support Team Assisted Response (STAR) program which has improved policing and mental health support.
  • Creating middle-income housing at the state level, something that can be brought to Denver.

Speaking with voters after the debate Herod stated, “I will always put results over politics, and with your support, together we can change Denver for the better.”

“Pairing Denver’s readiness to move forward with her proven track record of accomplishments on critical issues, Leslie is the only progressive candidate who can win and lead this great city into real change for the better,” said community activist Nita Gonzales. “Our community is at a crossroads. Leslie will listen to community and bring diverse people together to create real results.”
